The village is in a quiet backwater between the Saone and Seille rivers which form the border of the 2 regions. Lively enough to have a combined bakery, grocery shop and café opposite the church square, while a variety of shops and good restaurants can be found at 10 minutes’ drive in either Pont de Vaux or Tournus. This lesser known area of the Bresse is a paradise for nature lovers with walking and cycle paths along the riverbanks, through the mysterious forests and along quiet country lanes.
The house is well preserved with a new roof and smart rendering, while the exposed stone of the outbuildings gives it a rustic feel. Enter from the courtyard into the bright hallway which leads right through to the back garden and has an impressive stone staircase to the upper floor.
To the left two reception rooms with attractive fireplaces have been opened up to allow the light to flood in from the east and west windows. On one side is a cosy salon area with parquet floor and on the other is a formal dining area with old clay tiles.
To the right of the entrance hall is the fitted kitchen and breakfast room, a shower room with WC and a small office. A corridor leads through to an annex where there is a magnificent 55m2 living room with stone fireplace and patio doors to the west terrace and pool.
On the first floor of the house a wide landing leads to three double bedrooms with attractive parquet floors, a modern shower room and a separate WC. If further bedrooms are required, there is a large attic space on this level above the annex, also another attic above the main house. A ground floor bedroom could also be made from the smaller living room.
The property has a full-length vaulted cellar under the house and many large and useful outbuildings including a utility and boiler room, a pump room, a workshop and a garage as well as several covered terrace areas. The garden wraps around 3 sides of the property, from the formal courtyard at the front of the house, past the lawns to the secluded area with patio and pool area at the back. From here also are those splendid views across to the Burgundy hills on the other side of the Saone river. As the grounds total a hectare, about half of the land has been fenced off as pasture.
