A restored village house, retaining all its original charm, in a quiet street just outside the centre of the picturesque village of Periana.
Located at the end of a quiet street in Periana (easy parking nearby), this ancient house was once the site of stables for mules – hence the name, La Cuadra – and today has been restored to offer a comfortable, 3 bedroom house on two floors, with excellent outside space. (181.50m2 in total).
The entrance leads into a small hallway with stairs ahead, and a WC under the staircase. To the left is a large living space (formerly the stables) consisting of a dining room, with woodburner and space for a long dining table, and, on a slightly higher level, through a wide arch, a fully fitted kitchen. The kitchen has a door to a side patio, the first of three private outdoor spaces in this unusual house. A door from within the side patio leads to a small utility and store room.
To the left of the dining room, two steps lead up to a large living room with a woodburner, and a door out to the main patio garden area with high walls, which is totally private and could be made into a beautiful oasis of flowers and peace.
At the top of the stairs on the upper level, bedroom 1 is immediately to the left and the family bathroom is next door. Opposite, on the right, is bedroom 2, with a door to the upstairs terrace with lovely views across the countryside. At the far end is the third bedroom which has an ensuite bathroom with store cupboard beyond.
There are a few things still still to do in the house, such as hanging some of the doors and minor finishing details.
This very unusual house offers a perfect combination of original charm and all the luxuries of modern living, with the restoration involving a high quality level of building and roofing throughout.
Periana is 30 minutes from the coast, and the village has stunning views over Lake Viñuela and the coast beyond. The village has plenty of excellent facilities, including shops, bars, restaurants and sports and medical facilities, plus schools and some extremely lively and entertaining annual festivals, with a great sense of community.
